ART SUMMARY may 2016

Time for another summary!

May started by finishing the wall-art on the island Sandøya which I had started on in june, it was done about 4th of may. A week later we had a really very nice unveiling of the 5x5 meter painting, which was just great. The Aloha Café opened shortly after. The museum picked up on this wall-art-thing and we are discussing making a third piece for them sometime before july. Very exciting! I feel like I'm contributing to society! At work we were simultaneously super busy, as the tourist season is closing in fast, as it ALWAYS does in may and june. So we're trying to get all material ready to be sent off and printed as soon as humanly possible. Yikes.

Instagram and DeviantArt: A handful of animations

I finished the jumping cat-animation that was commissioned ages ago. I'm making a part2 sometime soon featuring the same cat, hopefully that won't take another couple of months hahah.. ha.. Then I made another Tokota run cycle - only five more to go! I use the same run cycle, but I change the "mane type" - Tokotas are quite popular, so these templates have been met with a lot of positivity :) They're fun making, just a little frustrating at times (as with all animations.) I also uploaded a picture of the Sandøya wall-painting, but I'm saving that for next paragraph!

Panimated (Commissions)

The big one here was obviously the Wall painting. It's 5x5 meters in size, and took about 30 hours to paint (which really isn't too bad, for such a piece). I did all the painting at night (need I remind you, I live at the polar circle and spring has hardly just arrived. I've been planning on doing this piece for about two years, so it feels good to finally have it done!

On the 14th of May we had a grand unveiling, and we counted 40 people who came to see. Which is a lot, considering the quite isolated location and the fact that people have to catch a boat to get here. It was just a fantastic day, a very fun experience! The next week I put together a video showing the entire process, and the unveiling at the end. (it's in Norwegian, but you english speakers might understand more or less I hope)

Here's another inside scoop, so this is the (to the right) mock up of the painting, made in photoshop (Notice how I had to photoshop out the scaffolding):

And then below is a little slideshow of the painting the way it ended up looking!

I'm very happy with the turnout!
Other than the wall-painting there's also the cat animation jumping, that I mentioned in the instagram-paragraph.

Project assistant work

A busy busy month, with some new design stuff but mostly just a whole lot of taking the material from last year and updating it for 2016. I worked a lot on the exhibition to get the most important bits ready to print (pretty much all text) and then we started thinking about some merch we could sell at tourist info booth, as a gift shop, more or less. (These are not all of them, in total I've made 17 tekstboxes, 9 maps, 6 postcards and two tour-brochures, edited about 20 photographs, plus a bunch of written stuff. But they all look very similar or aren't really design or drawings, so I won't bother to upload them all here)
